At least six soldiers have died and nine were wounded in a recent attack by the Islamic State jihadist group against a position of the Syrian army in the center of the country on Thursday, the Syrian Human Rights Observatory reports.
The London-based organization and whistleblowers in the Arab country have indicated that the attacked position is in the triangle that borders the provinces of Aleppo, Hama and Raqqa, which has been the scene of several attacks in recent weeks.
The observatory has detailed that the jihadist group carried out at least five attacks in the area in less than ten days after several months focused on operations in Homs and Deir Ezzor provinces.
The jihadist group has intensified its attacks in the country in recent months, although the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDS) announced on March 23, 2019 that it was taking Baghuz and the fall of the so-called territorial caliphate of the Islamic State. He no longer controls areas in Syria and in Iraq, where he was defeated in December 2017.
With this in mind, the committee responsible for overseeing the activities of the Islamic State and Al Qaeda pointed out in a report sent to the UN Security Council in February that the Islamic State was beginning to be constituted in both Iraq and Syria .
