Okara (HRNW) – The Department of Zoology at the University of Okara held an online biodiversity seminar to educate students in society about the conservation of Pakistan’s rich wildlife. Dr. Muhammad Wajid, Chair of the Department of Zoology and Dr. Arshad Javaid, Associate Professor of Zoology at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, gave lectures on species conservation.
Dr. Arshad told the students that Pakistan has a range of diverse animal species and that most of them are on the brink of extinction due to extreme ecological changes.
Dr. Wajid urged students to research rare species and find scientific and viable solutions to ensure they have suitable habitat. He explained that the OU Department of Zoology has made efforts to conserve wildlife in the Okara area, particularly the Lower Bari Dooab Canal.
At the end of the seminar, Dr Wajid thanked the guest speaker and the students on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zakria Zakar.
