Patriots receiver Mohamed Sanu is way ahead of schedule in his surgery recovery

Good news has been hard to come by for the New England Patriots this offseason. Between seeing Tom Brady leave for Tampa Bay, and Rob Gronkowski joining him with the Buccaneers, nothing but heartbreak has arrived for Pats fans. Well, leave it to Mohamed Sanu to bring some good news.

The veteran wide receiver will be relied on heavily to help presumed starting quarterback Jarrett Stidham get comfortable in his first year as the starter in New England. For Sanu, he’s coming off ankle surgery, but is ahead in his recovery and is poised to have a strong campaign.

Will Mohamed Sanu be able to silence his haters this fall with the Patriots?

“I would tell you he’s probably faster, quicker, leaner and in better shape now than prior to the surgery,” Sanu’s trainer Hilton Alexander told ESPN. “I would say he’s way ahead of any doctor’s knowledge or prediction where he would have been at this point. Way ahead of the curve.”

That quote from Alexander has to be music to fans’ ears everywhere. Sanu was acquired in a trade with the Falcons last year, but wasn’t able to quite provide the kind of production Bill Belichick and his staff envisioned when they went out to go get him.

In his short time catching balls from Brady, Sanu recorded 26 receptions for 207 yards and one touchdown in eight games. He underwent his ankle surgery to make sure he’d be able to bring his best stuff in 2020, and the decision appears to be a brilliant one.

Come this fall, Sanu will look to silence all of his haters out there and be the reliable receiving options for the Patriots many expected him to be. Let’s see what he can get done.
